It’s that time of year for all of us mint lovers… Shamrock shake season! Unfortunately, drinking a shamrock shake every day isn’t great for my stomach, or my wallet. So here’s my solution: a smoothie version that’s creamy, sweet, and minty but also helps me get my veggies for the day. AND it’s packed with mint, which is one of our favorite herbs for health! It’s the Minty Fresh Smoothie.
Now, this isn’t a shake, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be creamy. Avocado is one of our secrets to a great smoothie for its healthy fats and rich texture. Avocado and optional greek yogurt give this smoothie a rich and creamy texture. And we don’t shame sugars here, so sweeten to your liking with a sweetener of your choice! We’re obviously using some Minty Fresh as our liquid in this recipe, but we’re also throwing in some fresh mint for extra mint flavor to help tone down the spinach. We all know no smoothie can compare to a real shamrock shake, but this comes pretty f***ing close.
Moody Mint Shake (Shamrock Shake Inspired)
Ingredients
- 2 Large bananas cut up, preferably frozen
- 1 cup Fresh spinach leaves firmly packed
- ¾ cup Minty Fresh
- ½ Medium avocado
- ¼ cup Fresh mint leaves firmly packed, about 25 leaves
- Sweetener of choice to taste
Instructions
- We’re not even going to waste your time with steps, it’s just one. Blend all the ingredients together! We do recommend blending the spinach, mint and Minty Fresh first to get a really consistent texture without chunks of leaves, but it’s totally unnecessary.
Notes
- If you’re craving a stronger mint flavor, add ¼ tsp of mint extract to give it an extra punch.
- If you want an extra creamy smoothie, add ¼ cup of greek yogurt (or yogurt of choice).
- For a mint chocolate smoothie, add 1-2 tsp of cocoa powder (or chocolate protein powder) and a handful of chocolate chips or cacao nibs!
- Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings for shake vibes
So, what do you think? Almost as good as a shamrock shake, right? And it’ll definitely make you feel wayyyy better. If you love Minty Fresh, we also highly recommend the Minty Refresher for your cocktail or mocktail! (We promise your stomach will thank you for drinking this instead of green beer!)
