We had a blast last weekend over at the One of a Kind show! From meeting tons of new friends, vendors and customers alike; to walking through the HUGE show and seeing tons of incredible artists and emerging brands, we were so honored to be a part of such an amazing show.
We were super excited for this show for a couple reasons, one of them being our new 4 ounce packaging! We created this originally for the One of a Kind show, but we’ve decided to keep it going! This resealable, air tight, and light proof bag is perfect for a larger quantity of tea – it’ll keep your leaves even fresher than our 2 ounce white bags – definitely necessary when you pick up 4 or more ounces. Plus, this packaging also allows us to offer another retail option – the sealed nature of the packaging is perfect for shops looking to sell our blends, since the cost is more accessible than our tins, without sacrificing safety. So keep your eyes peeled for our new 4 ounce bags, hopefully coming soon to local shops throughout Chicago!
Aside from our fellow participants, there were two ROCKSTARS in the show with us – Red Moon Rooibos Chai, and Jaidrate! These blends are two of our personal favorites. If you saw us there, you probably heard all about how Nora drinks the Red Moon Rooibos Chai before bed because it’s so warm, comforting, and calming. John, on the other hand, drinks Jaidrate practically at all times – if they were injured they’d probably bleed this tea. While we love both of these blends and they’re certainly popular on their own, we were blown out of the water at how fast we ran through them.
Red Moon Rooibos Chai sold out early on Saturday – just one day into the show! Customers were captivated by the creamy, coconut accents in an herbal chai. We were a little surprised that this blend came out on top of our calm category since our Chamomile Medley usually reigns supreme. We even started taking pre-orders for delivery following the market. All in all, we went through 2 pounds of this blend alone!
Now, with summer on its way, we expected to Jaidrate to be a popular pick. Even its colors are summery, with pops of bright pinks and red from the strawberries, yellows from the pineapple, and deep reds and purples from the hibiscus petals. So naturally, we packed TONS of hydrate – over 3 pounds of this blend! So we were pretty astonished when we sold out on Saturday.
Whenever we enter a new market, we’re always interested to see what blends perform best there. For instance, we’ve noticed our fruitier blends really shine at Logan Square, where as our more herbaceous blends excel in Lincoln Park. We knew the One of a Kind show would be a little different than our usual spots, and the top sellers proved it. From now on we’ll definitely be packing extra of these blends for new markets, and who knows… they might just become our best sellers!
