FTGFOP stands for Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe, one of the top grades in the Orange Pekoe system, reserved for leaf lots with an especially high, consistent tip content.
By this point in the grading ladder, the differences from TGFOP are narrower and more about consistency than a dramatic jump in leaf character: FTGFOP lots are hand-sorted more tightly, with fewer broken pieces and stems mixed in, and a denser concentration of golden buds throughout. Some sellers add a numeric suffix (FTGFOP1) to flag an especially fine lot within the grade, though that’s a seller convention rather than a formal grading rule. FTGFOP teas are typically single-estate lots from Darjeeling or Assam, priced and marketed as a step above everyday whole-leaf black tea.
